Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, MP Maryana Bezuhla, stated in an interview with Radio NV that the commander of a brigade fighting in Krasnohorivka sent the brigade’s intelligence chief to his death following a conflict between them.
«In Krasnohorivka, what’s happening now poses huge risks. People are holding on with all their might. But let me give you an example. The brigade commander there had a conflict with his intelligence chief. What did he do? This commander, who has certain connections with the higher-ups, sent the intelligence chief directly to Krasnohorivka, where he was killed. Do you think a fair investigation will be conducted? The intelligence chief had pointed out the risks there,» she said.
Additional details about the situation were provided by well-known volunteer Serhiy Sternenko.
According to him, the brigade (whose name is withheld for security reasons) received a new commander a few months ago.
«The commander did not get along with the brigade, started interfering with drone operators, and even hid drones from them. But that’s not all. Recently, the commander sent the brigade’s intelligence chief on a combat mission. The intelligence chief is the eyes and ears of the brigade, holding critical information about the situation in the brigade and its area of responsibility. Sending the intelligence chief on a combat mission is an utterly incompetent decision, bordering on a war crime. The intelligence chief was killed,» Sternenko added.
He noted that the enemy could have gained access to classified information. «The brigade is extremely demoralized,» the volunteer concluded.
Bezuhla also recalled a bloody incident involving the son of former Chief of the General Staff Serhiy Shaptala.
«This reminds me of the case in Snihurivka, where Shaptala’s son was a battalion commander. They did everything possible to give him more men to storm Snihurivka. All military personnel who operated in the southern direction know this terrible story. Do you think Shaptala’s son was punished? He is still serving,» she said.
