Enemy May Attempt to Expand Active Combat Zones in Sumy or Kharkiv Regions at Any Moment — Ukrainian Border Guard Service

Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, stated that the Russian army might attempt to expand active combat zones in Sumy or other directions in the Kharkiv region at any moment.

He mentioned this during a broadcast on Espreso TV.

«Despite their lack of sufficient forces, the Russian army might try to expand some of the footholds with active combat zones, including within the Sumy region or other directions in Kharkiv. We must be prepared for any situation, monitoring enemy actions to counteract them,» Demchenko emphasized.

According to Demchenko, Russian troops are currently focusing their main efforts towards Vovchansk and Lyptsi.

The spokesperson also reported that recently, Russian saboteurs attempted to infiltrate the village of Sotnytskyi Kozachok in the Kharkiv region.

«Several enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs) attempted to enter, but were repelled in battles by Ukrainian defenders. Border guards, stationed in that area, also contributed significantly. Additionally, all necessary heavier means were employed to inflict damage on the enemy, particularly on the approaches to our border. We deploy counter-sabotage reserves to prevent the enemy from advancing further into our territory and securing positions in anticipation of future actions,» he explained.

Demchenko noted that the activity of enemy SRGs in the Sumy region has recently decreased.

«Of course, the enemy attempts to conduct sabotage actions, but their activity has significantly diminished. Most likely, the enemy might use these groups in areas they consider more appropriate. In Sumy, all units of the Defense Forces are taking all necessary measures to prevent SRGs from entering Ukrainian territory,» summarized the Border Guard Service.
