Biden Privately Contemplates Continuing in Presidential Race, Says NYT

Joe Biden After a poor debate performance, U.S. President Joe Biden confided in a close ally that he is weighing whether he can continue in the presidential race.

According to The New York Times, President Biden told a key ally that he recognizes his potential inability to save his candidacy if he doesn’t convince the public in the coming days that he is fit for the office following last week’s disastrous debate.

This is reportedly the first indication that Biden is seriously considering whether he can regain his footing after the debate in Atlanta.

An unnamed ally revealed that the President is still actively fighting for re-election. However, he expects that several upcoming appearances over the holiday weekend – including an interview with ABC News and campaign events in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – must go well.

It’s worth noting that after the debate between Democratic President Joe Biden and Republican candidate Donald Trump, discussions have emerged within the Democratic Party about possibly replacing Biden as their presidential candidate.

For context, the debate between Trump and Biden took place on June 27 in the United States.
